If you know me at all you will know I have been on a journey to reduce toxins in our home. This led me down the path of essential oils and Young Living in particular. I was enticed by ‘Thieves’ – both the oil and the household cleaner which I have been using instead of any other products…I have loved having a safe, new way of cleaning in my home with the added benefit of smelling ah-mazing!
The oils have led into other areas though…my skincare being one of them!
I wanted a simple but effective nighttime routine when it came to my skin and I have landed on one that works for me! Once you get a few supplies in then you are all set to make this over and over again. I now make a bottle for myself and my daughters as part of their skincare routine too…it is so gentle that the youngest skins can use it – so a complete bonus!
You’ll see above I used:
- a glass pump bottle from Ikea (similar here)
- measuring spoons from Unbound Ireland (similar here)
- fractionated coconut oil (The Soapery)
- witch hazel (Amazon)
- lavender essential oil (Young Living)
It is as simple as mixing all these ingredients together…and that is it! I like to use lavender as it has so many brilliant properties – we think of it as a restful fragrance but is also believed to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to heal minor burns and bug bites. Research suggests that it may be useful for treating anxiety, insomnia, depression, and restlessness. On top of all this it can kill little mites that live in your eyelashes!! I used to add a couple of drops to my mascara but after using this as part of my nighttime routine I don’t need the mascara addition! I have some more info on my Instagram Highlights if you fancy checking out!
It is an amazing natural oil and I love how it is so adaptable. Using a reusable wipe, followed by toner and and pure Frankincense oil I feel a bit spoilt at bedtime. Plus these are all oils which aid rest, sleep and promote calm – the perfect way to end the day!
Let me know if you have a go…I’d love to hear and if you would like any more info on essential oils come chat on Instagram!
