3 ways to increase your brand visibility

THE INTERNET IS A NOISY PLACE.

the need to increase your brand visibility IS HIGHER THAN EVER!

You know how it feels to be swamped by the opinions and thoughts of so many people as you scroll. So what is the answer to increasing your brand visibility? Especially when your industry is packed with other businesses. How do you stand out as a small business? PLUS, the race for the computers to take over the world is real – ok, maybe I’m exaggerating here, but you get the picture. Use of AI, when in the hands of busy small business owners, can end up in the repetition of similar ideas. You can see it in the answers and opinions being churned out.

Are we in danger of becoming a clone army online?

How do we set ourselves apart in our businesses?

It all comes down to infusing your content with YOUR perspective as a small business owner and getting super clear on what you want to say.

BECOMING A PERSONAL BRAND.

Yes YOU.

You need to think of your small business as a brand (and no it’s not just for the Nike and Apple’s of the world) AND you need to be front and centre.

Want to know why?

There is a need for human connection as the world gets more tech orientated. You only need to think of the call centres you phone every now and again…do you want to speak to someone and chat about your issue or do you want to answer questions by pressing numbers on your phone

Yes I thought so, we are definitely on the same page.

Someone to ask a question to, find something in common with and connect with on an ordinarily human level is one of the greatest assets of a small business. The impact of personal connections on establishing trust and credibility is huuuuuuge. So use it!

How do we create a personal brand?

1. Use storytelling marketing.

This is where your personal brand will shine.

Once you have your brand messaging in place (ie. what you want to say) then storytelling allows you to bring these messages to your audience in a way that nothing else can and you will start to see an increase in your brand visibility.

Are you hearing this…?

NO. ONE. ELSE.

And this is why you need to bring yourself front and centre.

It gives a different perspective to your products or services even in a saturated market.

It’s how you get seen.

TOP TIPS FOR HOW TO USE STORYTELLING:

Share:

Your personal story – how you got to where you are today.

What your vision is and how you intend to achieve it.

The story of a product or service

The values of your business – link these to everyday experiences

Behind the scenes of your day to day

Stories of your customers

2.  Be a thought leader.

Everyone needs someone they trust to show them the way out of their problem.

Your customers come to you because they need something, whether it be something pretty for their child’s bedroom or direction and coaching for their budding business.

Quash the self doubt and impostor syndrome – you have products and services that you are proud of. You wouldn’t be in business if you weren’t.

TOP TIPS FOR BECOMING A THOUGHT LEADER IN YOUR INDUSTRY:

Think of some of your industry beliefs – do you agree/disagree with them and why.

Share this simply. Don’t use industry jargon, it only leads to confusion. Get your messaging and writing as clear and simple as possible whilst making it sound like you. (Go back to the top – your customers want to connect with YOU so don’t sound like anything Google or AI can spit out).

By showing up consistently and in being present at the forefront of your brand – trust will grow. They will see you, know you and begin to recognise you and your thoughts.

They like you and they trust you and as a result you will start to see an increase in your brand visibility. Yay!

3. Connecting with Your Target Audience

Social media, although it can get a bad rap, is one of THE best tools for your business. And the bonus, it’s free. It bridges the gap between you and your customers and allows you to build a loyal following by using all the methods above.

It also allows you to get to the heart of what your audience wants and needs.

TOP TIPS FOR HOW TO CONNECT WITH YOUR AUDIENCE:

Use your insights – they tell you what people are watching and engaging with.

Look at what your DMs say – what are people asking you, are there any recurring questions or themes

Instagram stories – use the question boxes, polls and stickers.

But here’s the thing…

…you need to be social. Respond to your DMs and answers to question boxes. They are the true jewel in your quest to build a loyal following. Just be a kind human who is there to give the best customer service you can. You are the face of your business.

You know what you do and how to do it.

But there is still something standing in your way.

YOU

You want to show up and be at the fore of your brand but your inner critic is strong.

Embrace that – be vulnerable. People identify with struggles. If you have it all together then you become out of reach to most people/

Step up before you’re ready. Acknowledge what scares you and unpack it a little.

Is it what others think of you?

Mute or block them or maybe just get on the camera and suck up the pride.

Is it a lack of confidence or self worth?

Dig into why you feel that way. Is there any way you can lay those feelings down?

If you want to move forward in your business you are going to have to make peace with a whole plethora of feelings and be able to stay focused on how you are going to get there.

Get practising…

Start with creating reels where your face shows but you write text over the top.

Try videoing a product or service and adding the voiceover.

Build up to recording short videos with high value content.

Maybe you will eventually love a weekly live or a podcast!

Just remember that when your audience sees your face and hears your voice with a consistent message your trustworthiness grows.

Be unapologetically you in your business and you will see your personal brand grow.
