I have always suffered from dry skin and would be prone to breakouts if I don’t exfoliate. I was in the supermarket looking for an exfoliating body scrub as, you know, the time is coming when the legs that have been covered for months on end, through a wet and cold winter, are going to have to brave the elements! I stood and stood but couldn’t see any that were suitable and didn’t break the bank!
On a return trip to Pinterest (check me out here by the way)…which is my go-to now, even before Google! I discovered so many easy and quick recipes to make your own. I went for brown sugar above both regular sugar and salt as it was the softest and most gentle on your skin.
Mix in a bowl (as above):
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup (melted) coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E oil – I got mine from our local nature store
15 drops of lavender oil
1-2 tablespoons of dried lavender
Stir up and store in an airtight container. I used a little one I had from Ikea in the cupboard. Spoon out what you need in the bath or shower.
I honestly could not believe how smooth my legs were after and I didn’t moisturise as I normally do when I get out of the shower. Hopefully now ready for that summer day we will get in June when it’s warm enough to bare your skin to the elements 😉
I don’t know if you have any other combinations…I’d love to hear? Or an alternative beauty products using natural ingredients?
Now I’m off to replace my face one with a natural, chemical free option – Pinterest here I come!
Happy Tuesday
xx
