I have been wanting to do this for ages…I was given a slice of beeswax by the lovely shopkeeper at our local health food store and have wondered what to do with it ever since!
When I stumbled upon a whole variety of beeswax lip balms I knew it would be perfect…our household (the girls anyway!!) seem to be obsessed by lip balms in all shapes and sizes, so we decided on a combination of a few different recipes and came up with our own wee version.
Here’s what we used:
1 tablespoon of grated beeswax
2 tablespoons of coconut oil
1 teaspoon honey
10 drops of lemon essential oil
10 drops of vitamin e oil
// Bring some water to the boil and allow to simmer.
// In a glass bowl, set on top of the saucepan of simmering water, add the grated beeswax.
// Stir until over half of the beeswax has melted and add the coconut oil and honey. Stir until everything is liquid.
// Remove from the pan and add your chosen essential oil and vitamin e oil.
// Pour into your containers (I got mine from a local pound shop) and leave to cool.
The balm starts to set almost immediately but leave it for at least 20 mins/half an hour before trying it.
The girls decorated their little jars and are now carrying them around with them! Quick and easy to make, we’ll be able to replenish the supply easily and I love knowing that it’s all good stuff in them!
