This is such a simple diy and can be made to suit you…your choice of fabric, colour of elastic and decorating the notebook in whatever way you please. A perfect quick and easy way to make something unique! Abi needed a notebook for school and we thought this was the perfect opportunity to give it a go.
So you have a plain notebook (this one is from Paperchase, perhaps the best shop in the world!!)…
You’ll also need some elastic ribbon, scrap fabric and a glue gun!
// Cut your 2 fabric strips into small rectangles measuring 1.5cm by 4cm.
// Iron them in half (right sides together) and sew along 3 sides.
// Trim corners and run right way around.
// Press the fabric and fold in the seams of the open edge.
// Press.
// Measure the length of elastic that you will need by laying it out with your notebook. You’ll want it to measure the full length and wrap around onto the back cover by a couple of cm.
// Heat the glue gun and add a drop to the end of the elastic.
// Place in through the open end of the fabric and squeeze fabric around to hold in place.
// Repeat for the other end. (It should look like picture above).
// When finished sew over the top of the square of fabric…this is a little tricky to manoeuvre as it is so small but it will add a bit of strength and keep everything in place.
// Add any illustration or picture to your notebook at this point. This one is for school so we thought we’d keep it simple.
// Use the glue gun again to position on the back of the notebook.
// Hold in place until it has hardened.
