I have had a set of earrings lying about for a while that my mum found in a bargain bucket! I knew I would never wear them but thought that they would make lovely hair bobbles and saying as we are on a roll with hair accessories (check out these and these) I thought I would give them a go. You could use any type of bead with a flat base…I also made some using old pearl style earrings with a flat back and they turned out really well too.
// You will need:
plain hair bobbles
small pieces of felt (big enough to cover the back of the earrings)
earrings or beads
glue gun – plug this in before when you begin so it is ready for when you need it
// Remove the earring back to leave a smooth surface. On these earrings the base peeled off leaving the flat surface but you might have to twist or bend the earring back to get it off. If you do, just make sure you have a smooth surface and no jagged surfaces that could hurt little fingers.
// Cut your felt the same size as the back of your earring or bead. These had a felt backing already so I used it as a template.
// Glue the smooth back and lay on the bobble and felt circle.
// Hold firmly so the glue dries and holds it securely in place.
// It should look like this.
// That’s it…I promise you you’ll make lots more!!
