I have looked at these headbands before and have always meant to have a go! I wanted to use a little top that the girls have grown out of and I loved the fabric. It is a jersey knit which was perfect for this wee headband.
// I measured around Maddie’s head to get an idea of length (in hindsight I would have used Abi’s measurements as then they could all wear it….also by the time I had finished it was slightly on the small side for Maddie so I would definitely add a bit more length to give a good sized knot)
// To get the length I cut 2 rectangles out of the main body of the top and sewed them together.
// Fold the fabric in half lengthways and cut a curve at the ends.
// Sew around the open edge leaving a gap of a couple of inches to allow you to turn it right side round.
// Push the fabric out through the gap and press.
// Sew this seam closed.
// Lay out and knot your fabric.
// Finished!
You can see from these photos that I had to make the knot a little smaller. I’ll definitely be doing it again…only better!!
