Our girls have a sewing machine each…quite a long story but, in short, we didn’t plan it that way!!
We order the John Lewis Mini for Abi’s birthday but when we couldn’t get it delivered on time we changed our plan and got her a little second hand Janome from a local shop. When the JL Mini did arrive we decided to keep it for Annabelle.
She has loved it.
She loves that it’s red…that it’s small and easy to use.
I think it’s great that she loves it; that she wants to use it and that she loves getting it out and setting it up. Experimenting and creating.
The cons are that (one) there is no light which makes it difficult to see at times…I usually shine a little bedside lamp to help her see her stitching clearly. And (con two) I also think it’s tricky to thread. I find it more difficult than my machine, so I haven’t even begun to teach her the threading process yet!
It does look gorgeous but am not sure I’d recommend it. Abi’s Janome we got second hand is a far superior machine for the same price. I think she’ll use it as long as it keeps going whereas Annie will need a ‘proper’ one in the future if she decides she needs one for herself!
Looks versus substance!
I love it looks gorgeous but if buying again I may well be going second hand!
