This is a little project that just evolved as I sat…I took no photos as I wasn’t planning to document it at all. It was more work than I’d planned and I’d do it slightly differently if I was to start over but I loved the result all the same.
I used:
1 piece of oilcloth and a lining fabric of the same size.
bias binding
half a metre of webbing for handle
1 large button
Very (brief) instructions:
* lay the oilcloth and lining fabric, wrong sides together, with lining on top
* hem the bottom edge and fold up to create a pocket with the flap lying open above (make sense?!!)
* wrap around the bias binding, sewing as you go…I started on the right hand edge and worked my way around the pocket and then up and over the edge of the flap
* mitre corners as you sew
* sew in the webbing used for handle and a little loop of bias binding you are going to use to loop around the button (if I was sewing it again I would sew the webbing and loop in as I stitched on the bias binding)
* sew button in position
Such a easy little bag that my girls have loved playing with!
