Camping is all about living the simple life.
Things take more time, more effort, yet you survive with less.
More opportunities to talk, sit, watch and dream.
While away we were reminded that many in the world live in a tent, probably smaller than ours. Many have to walk to get water, have to handwash and scrub their clothes.
We were reminded we are rich.
And sometimes I don’t know what to do with that…knowing much of the world survives on much less than we do and would consider many of our necessities as luxuries.
Then I think of what I can do…look for opportunities to be generous, generous with what I have…time, money, energy, gentleness, patience. Look at the world with eyes of one who sees clearly, not dimmed by my wants and needs but how I can serve, put the needs of others before myself.
I don’t want to get sucked in by the lie of this world that tells me I don’t have enough and that what I do have needs to be better.
I want to want better things.
