Organic traffic….you know, the traffic that is driven to your website while you are free to sleep/eat/play/*
*insert your happy place.
A blog may well just be your answer.
“Surely blogging is dead?”
His words rang in my ears…”is social media, not the way to go?”
“ – and why is blogging so important anyway?!”
It made me think.
At first glance, social media seems to be king, and yes – it is an amazing way to connect with customers and build community but…
and there is a but!
It is becoming increasingly hard to be heard in the online noise.
With content having just seconds to resonate and people spending many many hours creating reels, carousels, and captions, the benefits of blogging are coming to the fore.
Savvy business owners know that SEO blog posts, that answer the questions of their ideal audience, bring traffic to their website continually.
And all this without having to…
Sound too good to be true?
Maybe! But here is your nugget. And it may just be the thing that transforms your business.
Slow down.
Breathe.
Put down the phone and stop filming those reels.
There might just be a better way.
That maintains your well-being and encourages a flourishing business.
Blogging.
Still a little hesitant as to why you need to start a blog for YOUR business in 2024?
Let’s dig in a little more then:
It’s your space. People have landed on your website and you have the freedom to share your offers and the value you bring free of algorithms and restraint.
So sprinkle all your magic dust that makes you unique. Speak to your audience like you were having a cuppa, and engage in conversation.
Use storytelling frameworks that mean you stand out and don’t become the AI robot that’s taking over the world.
Blogging can increase the number of people engaging with your content.
And here’s the key…
Be strategic with what you write.
You read blogs all the time – you may not even realise it!
Think about the last time you wanted the answer to a question…mine was “how to get olive oil out of a cotton t-shirt” – and the answer led me to a blog.
Creating content that people want answers to within your topic brings people regularly.
Then by optimising your content and identifying keywords, your content is more likely to pop up higher within the search engines.
Now you have answered a question and you have their attention – now keep it!
Give them extra value, something they didn’t expect.
Tell your people what to do next and how to stay in touch.
Lead them on a journey that leads to you and your offer.
And…fyi – Make sure you have included your lead magnet and sign-up link to your email list where you can begin to build more trust and eventually become a customer.
People spend 3x as long on a blog as an email.
You have an audience that is prepared to hang around for longer than the 5 seconds you need to fight for on social media.
They are there to find an answer – and while there is a desire or drive, people will hang around if it feels valuable.
So, meet their expectations.
Give them the meat and allow them to feel they have got what they need.
And then lead them along a journey …
One that begins with your brand awareness, showcases your lead magnet and offers, your lead signs up to your freebie and becomes an email subscriber, a valued prospect, and then hopefully a customer.
Your blog can be a perfect place to drive people to your freebie so make sure you include it…this was the key thing I missed in my decade of blogging for my small business.
I think of HOW MUCH I may have missed as a result.
By blogging regularly, the Google bots that index your site see it has been updated and will push it higher up the rankings.
Every piece of content you add to your site means you become more of an authority in your industry and people will buy from you when you show that you know what you’re talking about!
You become an expert in your field!
Use your blog to repurpose content…this blog post will provide me with social media posts and an email outline. You could use yours as an Instagram live, podcast, or YouTube video.
One piece of content can work harder for you, freeing you to focus on the parts of your business that spark your joy!
And of course, that is what it’s all about…joy in your business. You started it for a reason and flourishing in it as you work is key to making it last the distance.
Blogging can help make your words work harder for you.
For YOUR wellness.
I know, I know – this has been a super swift journey, a brief blogging 101, so to speak as to why you need to start a blog for your business in 2024.
