Of the many things I love, I love my coffee rituals the most. Not that it’s the actual way I make my coffee or the type I use but more the space I feel when I take that first sip. Even when carried round the house; being set down to brush hair, check teeth brushing or help pack PE kits, I find it a soothing ritual. Somewhere in my psych, I know that coffee means a cut off, even if it’s in the midst of the mayhem of the preparation of the morning school run!
So I thought I’d have a coffee date with you… a virtual one so to speak. That, were we to sit down and ponder life over a cuppa, what things we’d talk about and what we’d debate.
I’d probably tell you that I feel the strong need to hibernate at the minute, to stay in my house and not leave for days on end! That I don’t want to listen to the news or even podcasts, that my mind feels tired and I want to sometimes just do nothing. I’d tell you that I love watching the seasons change…the gradual decline of autumn and my walks that tell me of the slow switch to winter. More likely than not I’d tell you of my girls recent obsession with origami and the amazing boxes and high heels that they’ve constructed from paper; how I love to watch them engrossed in youtube following the latest design they’ve found. How I want to soak it all in because I have felt the sting of how fleeting childhood is of late.
And I’d ask you what you were up to…what books you have read and what cleaning cloths you use (because I’ve been asking loads of people this recently!) I’d want to know what you think about homework, chores, pocket money and all those practical things of life. But I’d really want to know how life was treating you and if you were as tired as me and how we should carve out time to sit and enjoy these hot cup of coffee moments a little more!
A few wee reads for your (hopefully hot) cuppa…
// If you follow me on instagram you’ll know we’re a hive of activity at the moment but here’s another little craft I’d like to have a go at!
// I’m not going to have time to make a tent this year but fancied the look of this one using a hula hoop!
// In the midst of a chaotic home I loved this read by Bethany at Cloistered Away.
// Have you heard of Motherese?
// And how amazing is this?
